JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

  • Primary function is to support engineering, sales, & manufacturing in multiple areas that require technical competency. Use 3D SolidWorks software, 2D Auto Cad, develop designs for customers & suppliers that support our diverse product offering including: molded plastics, rubber, lighting, membrane switches, metal fabrication, machined parts complete electromechanical assemblies. Additional responsibilities include transitioning designs into manufacturing, testing, verification testing & maintaining accurate documentation records.

Support the Engineering Department in multiple areas that require technical competency. This position will have to be cross trained to be able to assist design and engineering functions in the following:

  • Electrical and electronic designs and testing
  • PCB Layout
  • Mechanical design and documentation including 2D &3D CAD drawings
  • Graphic artwork and film separations for screen printing applications
  • Documentation including drawings, reports, procedures, etc.
  • Electrical and mechanical testing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design from concept; elastomeric, plastic, metal fabricated or machine parts, switch assemblies & complete assemblies.
  • Design fabricated components, fixturing, dies, housings, bezels & mechanical hardware.
  • Select and / or specify materials and components necessary to build product.
  • Develop assembly prints, documentation packages & maintain accurate records.
  • Work with customers & other resources to develop products & meet deadlines.
  • Assemble, analyze, qualify & test product to meet customer & regulatory requirements.
  • Successfully manage launch of critical new programs.
  • Drive improvement through project work as assigned by plant manager.
  • Structure and track plant and functional area performance measures.
  • Solve problems creatively and analytically.
  • Research and evaluate materials.
  • Develop processes, systems & technologies.
  • Develop structured documentation.
  • Maintain / improve ISO 9000 quality system
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient knowledge of 3D SolidWorks & 2D Auto Cad.
  • Knowledge of plastics, metal materials & finishes.
  • Good communication skills; written & verbal.
  • Knowledge & experience in assembly & manufacturing processes.
  • Electrical & PCB design experience is a plus.
  • Numerical accuracy.
  • Organizational skills a must.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to work with others and have good problem solving skills.
  • Needs to be a self-starter with the ability to achieve positive results through people.
  • Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy in dealing with plant personnel.
  • Hands on, team player willing to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Mechanical, molded and machined components design experience. Knowledge of metals and finishes.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks drawings and mechanical designs.
  • Electrical and PCB Design experience a plus.
  • Good communication skills: written and verbal.
  • Quoting and gathering cost estimates.
  • Knowledge and experiences in assembly and manufacturing processes.

EDUCATION

  • Minimum BSME, BSEE or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years product design experience.
  • Minimum of two years of AutoCAD experience.
  • Some experience or knowledge of fabrications, machining, molding & graphics.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $64,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
